Pathways offers a comprehensive continuum of care — from basic needs to stable housing to early childhood education — helping women and children rebuild their lives with dignity.
Every program is designed to meet women and children where they are — providing immediate safety, stable housing, and pathways to long-term independence.

Our Day Center is the heart of Pathways — a welcoming, safe space open 365 days a year from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Women experiencing homelessness can access essential services, build relationships with case managers, and take the first steps toward stable housing.
During inclement weather, hours may be extended to ensure no one is left out in the cold. Every person who walks through our doors is treated with dignity, warmth, and respect.
Safe Haven is a permanent supportive housing program designed specifically for single women experiencing homelessness with severe mental illness. Unlike time-limited shelters, Safe Haven offers a stable, long-term home where women can heal at their own pace.
Housed in a warm, home-like environment, Safe Haven provides private bedrooms for up to 10 women with 24-hour staffing, nutritious meals, and comprehensive wrap-around support services. Women in Safe Haven build community, receive consistent mental health care, and develop the skills and confidence to transition to independent living when they are ready.
Stepping Stones is our overnight emergency shelter for unaccompanied women and mothers with children. We provide a safe, dignified place to sleep — but more than that, we provide a launchpad for rebuilding lives.
With capacity for more than 30 women and children each night, Stepping Stones offers private bedrooms, communal living spaces, and a structured path from crisis to stability. Each resident receives an individualized case plan and meets weekly with a dedicated social worker. From housing search assistance to employment support, every step is guided with care.
Our Early Learning Center is a tuition-free, licensed Montessori-inspired preschool serving children ages 8 weeks through 6 years whose families are experiencing homelessness. It is the only program of its kind in Alabama — and one of very few nationwide.
Rooted in the Montessori principles of respect, kindness, and purposeful work, the Early Learning Center provides a stable, nurturing environment where children can learn, play, and grow. While their parents work toward housing and stability, children receive a high-quality early education that sets them on a path toward lifelong success. Nutritious meals, developmental screenings, and family support services are all included.
