Every gift of time, talent, and treasure makes a lasting difference in the lives of women and children experiencing homelessness in Birmingham.
Whether you have an hour to give, a meal to share, or resources to contribute, your support helps Pathways provide shelter, hope, and a path to stability for Birmingham's most vulnerable women and children.
Your financial gift directly supports our mission to provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, a tuition-free Early Learning Center, nutritious meals, case management, and life-changing support for women and children experiencing homelessness.
Every dollar makes an impact. A gift of $50 provides a week of meals for a woman in our shelter. $100 helps stock the Day Center with hygiene essentials for an entire month. $250 sponsors a child's educational supplies at the Early Learning Center for a semester.
Pathways is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Pathways. Whether you're serving a warm meal, mentoring a child, organizing donations, or bringing professional skills, your presence makes our community stronger.
Our tuition-free Early Learning Center is the only program of its kind in Alabama — a licensed, Montessori-inspired preschool for children ages 8 weeks through 6 years who are experiencing homelessness or at risk.
By sponsoring a child, you provide access to early childhood education that helps break the cycle of poverty. Your sponsorship covers educational materials, nutritious meals, developmental screenings, and a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, play, and grow.
Your sponsorship gives a child the foundation they need to thrive. When a mother knows her child is safe and learning, she can focus on her own journey toward stability — finding housing, securing employment, and building a better future for her family.
One of the most meaningful ways to connect with our community is by bringing and serving a meal. Whether you're an individual, a family, a small group, or a corporate team, your willingness to share a meal makes a profound impact.
Each meal provides nourishment not just for the body, but for the spirit. As you serve, you'll see the faces of the women and children whose lives you're touching — and you'll leave knowing you made a tangible difference.
What to know: Meals can be prepared off-site and brought to our shelter. We typically serve dinner at 5:30 PM. Contact us to coordinate your date, dietary considerations, and any questions.
From diapers and baby wipes to hygiene products and classroom supplies, our Amazon Wish List makes it easy to send exactly what's needed most. A few clicks and your donation ships directly to Pathways — no wrapping, no delivery hassle.
Each item on our wish list has been carefully selected by our staff to meet the most urgent needs of the women and children we serve. Every package that arrives is a reminder that someone cares.
Through our partnership with Goodwill, your gently used clothing and household items become shopping vouchers that help Pathways families furnish their homes with dignity.
Gather your gently used clothing, furniture, electronics, and household goods. Drop them off at any participating Goodwill location in the Birmingham area.
When you drop off your donation, simply let the Goodwill attendant know that your items are being donated in support of Pathways. This ensures your donation is properly credited.
Goodwill credits 50% of the value of your donated items as shopping vouchers for Pathways. These vouchers empower the women and children we serve to shop for clothing, furniture, and household essentials — choosing what they need with dignity and independence.
